Deep in the mountains of Yunnan Province, where mist clings to the ridgelines and the soil has never seen a tractor, there are tea trees that have been growing for hundreds of years. The local ethnic communities - the Bulang, the Dai, the Hani - have harvested their leaves for generations, not as a crop, but as a relationship. These are not plantations. These are forests. And the trees at their heart, the ancient ones, the gushu, produce something that younger, cultivated plants simply cannot: a leaf dense with minerals, complexity, and a depth of character that reveals itself slowly, over many steepings, across many years.

Our Jade Brick Pu-erh is pressed from the leaves of these ancient trees - wild-grown, hand-harvested, sun-dried in the traditional way, and stone-pressed into a compact 220g brick. This is raw sheng pu-erh: alive, evolving, and endlessly complex. Young enough to carry the bright, floral energy of the mountain, and structured enough to age gracefully in your collection for years to come.

The dry brick is tightly pressed, with visible whole leaves in deep green and brownish tones - the natural signature of minimally oxidized raw sheng. Once rinsed and steeped, the liquor pours a luminous pale gold, clear as morning light. The aroma opens with fresh florals - orchid, honeysuckle - and a cool, camphor-like mountain freshness. On the palate: a gentle honey sweetness at the front, followed by layers of stone fruit, wildflowers, and a clean mineral finish that lingers long after the cup is empty. There is a pleasant, mouth-coating astringency in the early steeps that softens beautifully with each successive infusion, eventually giving way to a smooth, cooling sweetness.

This is a tea that changes. Steep three is not steep one. The fifth cup is not the second. That is the nature - and the reward - of ancient tree sheng pu-erh.

Why This Tea Is Special

  • Ancient tree (gushu) material - leaves harvested from wild trees hundreds of years old, grown without intervention in the forests of Yunnan.
  • Traditional processing - hand-picked, sun-dried, stone-pressed. No shortcuts, no industrial methods, no compromise.
  • Pressed brick format (220g) - compact, convenient, and ideal for aging. Break off what you need, store the rest, and watch it evolve.
  • Classic young sheng profile - floral, honey-sweet, mineral, with a cooling finish and beautiful complexity across multiple infusions.

An excellent choice for those discovering raw pu-erh for the first time, or for collectors seeking a beautiful, affordable ancient tree brick to age in their own collection.

How to Brew

Gongfu Style (recommended - gaiwan or small teapot):
Break off 5–6g of tea from the brick using a pu-erh pick or the back of a spoon. Rinse first: add 90–95°C water, wait 10 seconds, discard. This opens the leaf and removes any surface dust from pressing. Then steep in short infusions - 20–30 seconds for the first few steeps, gradually increasing. A good ancient tree brick will reward you with 8–12 steeps or more.

Western Style (mug or teapot):
Use 3–4g per 250ml of water at 90–95°C. Steep for 2–3 minutes. A quick rinse is still recommended before the first proper steep. Good for 2–3 infusions this way.

Aging your brick:
If you'd like to age your Jade Brick, store it unwrapped in a breathable container - a clay jar or a dedicated pu-erh storage box - in a cool, stable environment with moderate humidity. Avoid plastic, airtight containers, and strong odors. Even one to two years of proper storage will noticeably soften the astringency and deepen the flavor.

Storage

Keep your Jade Brick Pu-erh in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space, away from direct sunlight, strong odors, and humidity extremes. Pu-erh is a living tea - it breathes and evolves over time. Avoid airtight plastic containers, which suffocate the aging process. A breathable paper wrap, a clay jar, or a dedicated tea storage box are all ideal.
